Chinese poet Li Po (701-706) is regarded as one of the two greatest poets in China’s literary history. He was well known for his love of liquor and often spouted his greatest poems while drunk.
One night, Li Po fell from his boat and drowned in the Yangtze River while trying to embrace the reflection of the moon in the water.
i am not a good guy Claudia, instead of appreciating a beautiful picture i am giving you a disaster story. This tops the list of 30 strangest deaths in history my favourite is the 2nd story.
Oh, some of those deaths are really something, rauf! I mean, tripping on your own beard and breaking your neck?! Wow, what a way to go!
I was always fascinated by Isadora Duncan's tragic scarf. Also by Rasputin's apparent immunity to death. It must have been terrifying for those trying to get rid of him. At the time everybody was trying to get rid of everybody else so I'm a bit glad someone gave them a fright. Rasputin was a scoundrel, though, preying on the misery of a very sick child and his mother. He deserves no sympathy for the role he played in the Romanov tragedy.
The poet's death, however is the most poetic. That's my favourite.
As you know, I have been absent from blogging for a little while and now I can see all that I have missed. So happy to see you back as a busy blogger again; missed you for too long. The quality of your posts and photos continue to amaze me. I promise to come back for a closer look. (Happy to see that the "Munch-feeling" lasted only one day.)
made into a movie Ruth, late 60s or early 70s Vanessa Redgrave playing isadora. i don't remember much, some thing was wrong and i didn't like it. She got an Oscar that year.
I'm an expat married mother of two with a myriad of ephemeral interests and occupations. I'm Portuguese by heart and blood, English by birth and Swiss by marriage. This blog is one of my many scrapbooks.

Welcome back, Peter! Missed your blogging and your presence here.
Listening, imagining Isadora Duncan dancing, but I didn't know about the scarf. :(
I think this melody goes so well with the photo... I'm glad you are listening to it.
The way Isadora Duncan died has held a morbid fascination on me since childhood, Ruth.

I never saw that film, rauf. Don't think Vanessa Redgrave could ever be a convincing Isadora Duncan, though.
